Frequently Asked Questions

  • Why do I need a mount?

Because picture framing is as much about protecting your image as it is about showing it off to best advantage.Your image should not touch the glass and the mount serves a dual purpose of holding it away from the glass and setting it off in the frame.

  • How accurate are the images and the simulation?

All visuals of mouldings, mounts and pictures have been taken from photographic images. All photography has been colour managed but there will be variations in computer displays and therefore there is no guarantee that your screen is calibrated to the same specifications as our own. With natural materials such as wood there will also be slight variation from batch to batch.

  • The system won't let me upload my image. Why?

The online system only accepts JPEG formats. See Hints and Tips for more info.

  • I cannot see a record of images I uploaded the last time I came to the site. Why?

We only keep images in those instances where customers have created an online ‘account’, partly for this purpose. We are also unable to keep images indefinitely, due to reasons of space. Images will be kept in customers’ accounts for as period of 12 months.

  • What is a Giclee?

Giclee is a French term, meaning ‘spraying of ink’. A giclee is a highest-quality inkjet printing onto specialised fine-art papers and canvases in limited editions. The inks used are lightfast, last far longer than normal inks and produce a velvety finish.
